Expected Response Types

Each campaign step consists of a message template and an expected patient response that defines what text we expect the patient to reply with. Relevant currently supports the following responses from patients:

  • None
  • Yes or no
  • Alphabetical
  • Anything

None

Use this option when you do not expect patients to respond to your text message. This is the default for a campaign.

Yes or no

Use this option when you expect patients to respond “yes” or “no” to your text message. You can configure the response to the patient once they text “yes” and the response when the patient texts “no” in your subsequent campaign steps.

Be sure to include response instructions so the patient knows how to respond (i.e. “Please respond Y or N”)

Alphabetical

Use this option when you want patients to respond to a multi-choice question using letters. You can configure your expected responses from 2 options (A or B) to up to 5 options (A, B, C, D, or E).

Be sure to include response instructions so the patient knows how to respond (i.e. “Please respond A, B, or C”)

Anything

Use this option when you want to accept an open ended text from the patient. For example, you could ask the patient what they thought of their last visit. Any message received from the patient will trigger the configured response from the campaign step.
